Learning in virtual environment is often more demanding than campus-based learning for students and teachers. The tools (IQ Learn and IQ Team) of the IQ Form project support individual student, student group and teacher during the studies carried out on Web. The both tools can be used also as supportive tools in campus-based learning.

The name "IQ FORM" refers to the idea that technological learning environments and platforms should be "intelligent" in supporting students with different abilities to grow as learners. To learn more about the theoretical bases of the IQ FORM system visit the project's homepage.

The tests of the tools give information about your learning and group work skills. The tutorials offer information and practical pieces of advice such as how to develop learning and group work skills. You get the best use of the tools when a teacher/tutor and students use together the various parts of the system.

Self-assessment tests

You may start using the system by filling in the questionnaires of the tests. You do not have to fill in all the tests at the same time. Using the tests of IQ Learn you may assess your learning skills and strenghts. The tests of IQ Team are aimed at asessing group working skills and ways how a certain group is working.

It can be interesting to take the tests again at the end of the course and perceive if your conception of your learning strategies or group work skills has changed.

Test results

The system automatically saves your test results, but also are you provided with statistics of your study group, and you may make comparisons. Your personal results can not be seen by any other than yourself. The mean scores of the group offer valuable information to the teacher about her/his students and also advice how to design an effective web-course for different kinds of students. IQ Team test's results provide teacher with information on students' group working skills which s/he can use to modify the study settings.

Tutorials

The tutorials 'Tutoring tools' and 'Guide for working together' include a lot of information about the same themes as the self-assessment tests. After getting the test results get to know the equivalent parts in the tutorials which include information how you may develop strategies that affect learning. Take time to study the tutorials as they offer information and assignments that lead you towards deeper understanding of factors affecting learning and group work. If you want to develop your strategic skills, write down your ideas and reflections inspired by assignments e.g. on the learning diary offered by the IQ system.

Learning diary

You may write down to the learning diary your thoughts inspired by self-assessment tests, test results and assignments of the tutorials. You can send the diary texts to your personal email and forward them e.g. to your teacher. In this way the IQ system can be used for evaluating development of learning strategies.
